Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During our attack upon a village he led his company with the greatest skill and coolness under heavy shell fire. He moved calmly about the barrage encouraging his men, with complete disregard of
his personal safety. He personally assisted to capture two machine guns, and set a splendid example of courage during the whole action.'
