Mentioned in Despatches 'For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty. At La Basse Ville on the night of 3/4th August 1917 Sergeant Auhana had charge of a section erecting wire entanglements in front of outpost line. The party was heavily shelled while at work and also while going to and returning from work. He showed an absolute disregard for his personal safety, kept his men well in hand and completed the work allotted to him. His coolness under fire and the handling of his men was a splendid example to the other NCOs of his company. Sergeant Auhana has done good work during his 18 months service in France.'
