Embarked Wellington, 2 April 1917; disembarked Devonport, England, 10 June 1917, and marched in to Sling Camp.

Proceeded overseas to France, 6 July 1917; joined 3rd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, in the field, 24 July 1917, and posted to 13th Company.

Admitted to No 4 NZ Field Ambulance, 29 July 1917 (diarrhea), and transferred same day to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station (colitis); to No 13 General Hospital, Boulogne 30 July 1917 (suspected dysentery); to No 14 Stationary Hospital, Boulogne, 31 July 1917 (ulcerative colitis).

Died of disease, 9.40 am. 9 August 1917.
