Embarked to join the British Exped Admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 27 July 1916; transferred to 8th Stationary Hospital, Wimereux, 28 July 1916 (appendicitis); discharged to Base Depot, Etaples, 6 August 1916; rejoined 1st Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in the field, 13 August 1916. Wounded in action, 18 September 1916 (gun shot wound, right arm), and admitted to 1/1 South Midlands Division Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to Ambulance Train, 18 September 1916, and admitted to No 4 General Hospital, 19 September 1916; discharged to No 6 Convalescent Depot, Camiers, 22 September 1916; discharged to Base Details, 24 September 1916.
