Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in an attack. He led his machine guns forward through a heavy barrage, choosing their positions with great skill. By his sound judgment under fire he got his guns quickly into action and saved his teams many casualties. He set a splendid example of courage to his men.'
