Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and good leadership at Foret de Mormal, 5th November 1918, when in command of one of the leading companies, which, after advancing about 2,000 yards, came under heavy machine-gun fire from the enemy. He skillfully worked his men forward and rushed the position. He then pushed on and eventually took his final objective, taking forty prisoners and leaving many dead on the field.'
