Court of Enquiry, 19 November 1917, concluded: 'Missing, believed killed.'

Statement, 29959 Pte R.E. OATS, 10th Company, 2nd Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment: 'I saw Bulman at the assembly point previous to the attack on Belle Vue Spur, 12 Oct. I did not see him again but a man told me that he was killed well up the spur close to the enemy wire. Owing to the heavy enemy fire it was very difficult to search this part of the country.'
