Source: London Gazette Date: Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He handled his squadron with great skill and gallantry in an attack upon a concealed enemy position. Although wounded in two places, he continued in command until a third time wounded, setting a fine example throughout.'

Though his squadron came under heavy rifle, machine gun, and shell fire, he skillfully made dispositions and forced back the enemy. During the attack he made
personal reconnaissances, and brilliantly led his squadron in the attack, capturing prisoners and machine-guns. His energy, initiative and sound judgement set a magnificent example to all ranks under his command.'
