Bar to Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field at Briastre from 11th to 13th October 1918. This soldier carried out his work as a stretcher bearer with tireless energy and with an utter disregard for personal safety. He continually
carried men in under heavy shell and machine-gun fire. His devotion to duty was the means of saving many wounded mens lives.'

and carrying wounded under very heavy shell and machine-gun fire. He went across an open space swept by heavy machine-gun fire and attended to a wounded
Sergeant, placing him in a safe position. His conduct throughout the attack, under most difficult and dangerous conditions, was an exceptionally fine and inspiring example to all his comrades.'
