Admitted to NZ General Hospital, Cairo, 8 December 1915 (enteritis); transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, 10 January 1916; discharged, 14 January 1916. Posted to Canterbury Infantry Bn, Moascar, 19 January 1916. Embarked Port Said, Egypt, 9 April 1916, and proceeded overseas to France. Found guilty, 9 September 1916, of loss of ammunition; awarded one day's loss of pay. Admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 30 October 1916; transferred to No 1 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 31 October 1916; admitted to hospital, 2 November 1916; transferred to No 7 General Hospital, St Omer, 3 November 1916; embarked for England, 2 December 1916; admitted No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 3 December 1916 (pneumonia).
