Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty on October 4th at Gravenstafel. This NCO on the afternoon of the 4th repeatedly took his squad forward under heavy fire and rescued many men lying out in the open. His example of coolness under fire was a great incentive to his men and helped greatly in the rapid evacuation of the wounded.'
