Proceeded overseas from Wellington on board HMNZT 'Athenic', 16 October 1914.

Disembarked Alexandria, Egypt, and entrained for Zeitoun Camp near Cairo, 3 December 1914.

Appointed to position of Squadron Sergeant-Major, 25 January 1915.

Marched out of Zeitoun Camp and entrained for Alexandria, 7 May 1915.

Proceeded overseas from Alexandria to the Dardanelles on board HMT 'Grantully Castle', 9 May 1915. Disembarked Anzac Cove, Gallipoli, 12 May 1915.

Admitted to New Zealand Field Ambulance, Anzac, Gallipoli, and transferred to Fleet Sweeper, 4 July 1915 (rheumatism); admitted to 1st Australian Stationary Hospital, Lemnos, 7 July 1915; transferred to No 24 Casualty Clearing Station, Mudros, 19 July 1915; discharged to duty, 28 July 1915.

Evacuated from Dardanelles by HMHS 'Andania' and admitted to Floriana Hospital, Valletta, Malta, 21 August 1915 (dysentery); transferred to All Saints' Convalescent Camp, 28 August 1915; evacuated to England on board the Italian hospital ship 'Regina d'Italia', 16 September 1915. Disembarked England and reported to 5th Northern General Hospital, Leicester, England, 24 September 1915 (slightly sick). Transferred to Woodcote Park Convalescent Hospital, Epsom, Surrey, 29 September 1915. Discharged to furlough, 17 November 1915; reported to Depot on return from furlough, 25 November 1915.
