Medals

Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty whilst in charge of a Lewis Gun Section during the operations on Passchendale Ridge on the 12th October 1917. Although this N.C.O. was himself wounded early in the Battle, he continued to lead his section and use his gun with good effect. He did not leave his gun until nightfall when he became too exhausted from his wound to carry on any further. He set a splendid example to his section.'
