Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations against Passchendaele Ridge on 12th, 13th and 14th October 1917. At one stage, the right flank of the Battalion having been held up by a German Machine Gun, this N.C.O. regardless of danger, moved forward alone and killed three of the crew and forced the rest to retire, thus enabling our advance to continue.'
