The Nominal Roll gives the date of departure as 1 April 1916; harbour records indicate that the actual date of embarkation was 2 April 1916.

Military Medal

'Operations: British Front near Pont a Pierres and Beaudignies, 23rd October 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the above operations Sergeant Lowe was in command of a patrol mopping up the Village of Beaudignies. He displayed great initiative and leadership in pushing rapidly forward under heavy machine-gun fire the whole time. He established and maintained a forward post under machine gun fire securing the Northern Bridgehead. His behaviour under fire set a magnificent example to all ranks.'
