During the above operations Sergeant Lowe was in command of a patrol mopping up the Village of Beaudignies. He displayed great initiative and leadership in pushing rapidly forward under heavy machine-gun fire the whole time. He established and maintained a forward post under machine gun fire securing the Northern Bridgehead. His behaviour under fire set a magnificent example to all ranks.'
