Military Medal 'For devotion to duty. On March 30th 1918 these N.C.O.s had charge of two Stokes Trench Mortars, covering the right Battalion, and by capable and energetic handling were able to keep down the enemy machine gun fire, thus enabling the infantry to attain their objective with a minimum of casualties. They then moved forward to the new position, digging their guns in to cover the line against counter-attacks.'
