Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On 12th October 1917, during attack on Passchendaele Ridge, Corporal Green was in charge of several bearer squads. Undeterred by the heavy barrage he took his squad up to the front line searching the shell holes and brought back many wounded men into safety. He continued this work for 60 hours with untiring energy and was a splendid example to the other men in devotion to duty.'
