Military Medal 'At Flers on the 17th September volunteers were called for to bring up ammunition for Lewis Guns in the Front Line. This man came forward, and succeeded in getting the ammunition to the Front Trench under heavy fire. One Gun was holding block on the extreme right of the position and all the team were killed or wounded. Private Gray took over the gun, and with assistance of two men part of the time filling magazines, served it for more than twelve hours. He caused the enemy serious losses and was mainly instrumental in preventing them from recapturing that part of the Trench.'
