Reported wounded in action, 14 June 1917 (gun shot wound, left hand: slight), and admitted to 9th Australian Field Ambulance, 15 June 1917; transferred to England and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 18 June 1917; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 10 July 1917; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 5 November 1917. Admitted to No 3 NZ General Hospital (Venereal Section), Codford, 31 January 1918; discharged, 4 March 1918. Transferred to NZ Machine Gun Corps, 16 April 1918, and proceeded to Training Depot, Grantham. Detached for course of instruction at Machine Gun School, Harrowby, 13 May 1918.
