Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field near Bancourt on the
31st August 1918. When the line fell back during a counter-attack this NCO had a
patrol out in front, and collecting several men from other Companies, formed a
post and remained in the front line until the whole line was re-established. His
coolness and daring at a critical moment was an inspiring example to his men.'
