Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on the night 27/28th March 1918
near Hebuterne. The flank of his Battalion was threatened by a strong counter
attack and the enemy called on Sergeant Goodhue to surrender. Under heavy
machine-gun fire Sergeant Goodhue ran forward with a Lewis gun and, getting his
gun into position, opened fire killing many of the enemy and dispersing the
remainder. Throughout the whole of the operations he set a splendid example to
his men.'
