Mention in Despatches 'For gallantry and conspicuous and consistent devotion to duty in the field during
the period from 25th February to 16/17th September 1918. During this period this
NCO has acted as Quartermaster Sergeant to his Company with unvarying zeal and
enthusiasm. He has worked hard and unceasingly in the interests of the men of his
Company and has personally seen to the carrying and distribution of the rations
whenever his Company has been in the line. He has throughout shown a fine
disregard for danger and a high conception of his duties, although on many
occasions shelling has been heavy during the performance of his work. He has
never failed to get his rations forward nor to carry out whatever his duty was
called on him to do.'
