Military Medal 'In the attack on the Gravenatafal Ridge position on the 4th October Lance
Corporal Goldstone was one of the party laying lines from cable head to the 4th
New Zealand Inf. Bde. Forward Station. When the line was laid he was in charge of
the central linesman?s test point, and did good work in repairing breaks on both
sides of this point until wounded by the explosion of a shell. This is the fourth time
that Lance Corporal Goldstone has been blown up, escaping on the previous
occasions with (1) the loss of his shirt (2) slight shell shock when blown bodily out
of a trench (3) a slight wound.'
