Wounded, 22 November 1916 (gun shot wound, neck), and admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance; transferred to 2nd Casualty Clearing Station, 23 November 1916; to 13th General Hospital, Boulogne, 26 November 1916; to No 1 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 2 December 1916; rejoined Bn, in the field, 14 December 1916.

Court of Enquiry (no date recorded) concluded: 'The injury was caused during the course of Lewis Machine Gun practice by the rebound of some hard substance from the earth mound in front of which the target was placed and ... no blame was attachable to anyone.'
