'Operations: British Front before Puisieux 14th/15th August 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. While in command of a Platoon, Sergeant Goldfinch skillfully and determinedly attacked an enemy strong point, shot two of the garrison and captured one machine-gun and nine prisoners. The bravery and determination shown by this NCO was a splendid example to all and materially assisted in the success of the operation.'
