Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. As brigade transport officer he superintended the forwarding of supplies and water to the front line. On two occasions he went through enemy barrages to ensure the delivery of supplies, and by his coolness and personal example controlled his men in the most difficult situations.'
