Admitted to 26th General Hospital, Etaples, 12 March 1917 (skin disease); transferred to 25th General Hospital, Etaples, 21 March 1917 (impetigo); to England, 5 April 1917, and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 26 April 1917; marched into 5th Reserve Bn, Sling, 3 July 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 9 September 1917; joined 2nd Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 16 September 1917, and posted to B Company.

Reported missing, 12 October 1917.
