Proceeded overseas to France, 14 September 1917; joined 4th Bn, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, in the field, 8 October 1917, and posted to C Company. Wounded in action, 12 October 1917 (foot, mild); admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance, 13 October 1917, and transferred same day to 17th Casualty Clearing Station; to NZ Convalescent Depot, Etaples, 25 October 1917; to No 14 Convalescent Depot, Trouville, 26 October 1917; rejoined unit, in the field, 17 January 1918.
