Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the attack on the Passchendaele Ridge on the 12th October 1917, he tended the wounded under very heavy fire, going forward in front of our position to bring in men, without any thought for his personal safety. Until wounded himself, he worked in the most forward positions and in the greatest danger.'
