Bar to Military Medal 'Operations during advance east of Cambrai, 13 October & 11 November 1918 On the 13th October when attached to the 147 infantry Brigade, he was engaged in running from Brigade Headquarters to Battalion Headquarters. He continually brought messages and reports of utmost importance through Villers en Cauchies which was being heavily shelled. By his disregard of danger and for his personal safety he has on this and many other occasions showed a splendid example by his devotion to duty.'
