Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the heavy bombardment of our position east of Rossignol Wood on the morning of the 25th July, Private Galbraith stood to his post when shells were bursting all round him and kept his Lewis gun in action. Later during the day, during the German attack, he jumped out into the open, and at great personal risk brought heavy flanking fire to bear on the attackers, cutting off twenty of the enemy and thus assisting in their capture. His coolness and disregard for his own personal safety was a fine example to all.'
