'Operations Becelaere Sector 9th December 1917 to 22nd February 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This officer, as Company Commander, has done especially good work. While in the line during many tours of duty of a most trying nature, he has invariably carried out his duties in a most praiseworthy manner. His capabilities are of a very high order. His coolness and sound judgement and rapid grasp of any situation have earned for him a reputation of a very reliable officer.'

'Operations: British Front, Armentieres, 7th May to 7th August 1918, and operations on Somme, 12th September to 2nd October 1916. This officer has been the battalion Lewis gun officer since the formation of this Brigade. During the last six months he has trained his detachment with untiring energy and devotion to duty, with the result that every man in the battalion can fire the gun if called upon to do so.'
