Military Medal 'On 28th November 1917 near Ypres this NCO displayed the very greatest courage and devotion to duty. On four separate occasions he went out in the open in full view of the enemy and under very heavy shell and machine gun fire, and mended the telephone wires, thus keeping up communications at a very important time. His cool daring and extreme devotion to duty were a magnificent example to his fellows.'
