Military Medal 'Operations: British Front near Pont a Pierres and Beaudignies 23rd October 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the above operations Private Foster led his Lewis gun Section forward with great boldness and skill. Pushing well forward he rushed a post that was holding up the advance. On reaching the objective he led a patrol well forward sending back valuable information. Throughout the day he was exposed to heavy machine gun and shell fire, and his utter disregard for his personal safety was a fine example to all ranks.'
