Bar to Military Medal 'Operations during advance east of Cambrai 13 Oct-11 November 1918. For conspicuous gallantry. On 7.11.18 near Autreppe on learning that his platoon officer had been wounded or possibly killed whilst on patrol, volunteered to find him and
showed great coolness, courage and determination in prosecuting his task as there was considerable enemy fire of all kinds and the country was very open, nevertheless he found the officer badly wounded and brought him in. On 9.11.18 near Quevyle Grand he successfully organised and led a search party for a wounded Mounted rifleman over very difficult and dangerous ground. This NCO
has throughout the recent advance shown great courage while on patrol.'
