Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Havrincourt Wood on 12th September 1918. During the bombing operations on the afternoon of the advance, Corporal Fletcher worked in conjunction with Lance-Corporal Papworth in dealing with the enemy strong-posts in Snap Trench. He worked his way down his trench in the face of showers of stick grenades, and bombing the enemy positions supporting the post enabled our men tosecure it and two machine guns. It was largely due to Corporal Fletcher's very successful co-operation; and his personal bravery, that the important post was captured, and many casualties avoided. Later Corporal Fletcher again participated in the bombing attacks on this front and showed the greatest resource and initiative'
