Mentioned in Despatches 'For bravery, devotion to duty and general good service. His Officer and all senior Non Commissioned Officers having become casualties on the first day, Sergeant Fisher then a Corporal, commanded the Battalion Lewis guns on the Somme from 6th September to 4th October 1916, with great skill and ability. His work has always been of the highest order, and he has consistently set a fine example to his men.'
