'For conspicuous gallantry, skill, and initiative. On the 29th September, 1918 near La Vicquerie during an advance in the dark Private Finn acted with great gallantry, skill, and initiative as a scout, leading his Company over very difficult country through heavy enemy shell and machine gun fire. Private Finn?s skill and initiative was in a large measure responsible for the success of the whole operation. He set a splendid example to all ranks.'
