Source: London Gazette Date: Bar to Military Cross 'At Amman on 25th September, 1918, he displayed great leadership and gallantry. His squadron was held up by two big redoubts, but my continually going along his line and pushing a few men forward at a time, going forward himself to select positions for them, he worked the line forward and brought heavy fire to bear on the redoubts, causing them to surrender. Leaving the garrison under an escort, he
pushed on with his squadron, and occupied Amman railway station.'
