War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Embarked Alexandria with unit to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli Campaign), 12 April 1915. Admitted to No.16 Casualty Clearing Station, 20 August 1915, and transferred to Mudros (debility); to Duchess of Connaught Canadian Red Cross Hospital, Taplow, England, 1 September 1915 (debility & jaundice); discharged to furlough, 7 October 1915; marched into Base Depot, Weymouth, 22 October 1915. Marched into NZ Base Depot, Grey Towers, 11 January 1916. Proceeded overseas to Egypt, 1 March 1916; taken on strength of 2nd Bn, Wellington Infantry Regiment, Ismailia, Egypt, 13 March 1916. Transferred to 2nd NZ Training Bn, Ismailia, 8 April 1916. Embarked Alexandria with No.2 Anzac Signal Company to join the British Expeditionary Force, 6 June 1916.
