Military Medal 'For gallantry and good work at Messines on 7th June 1917. Though his three comrades had become casualties, and he had himself been slightly gassed, he worked under heavy shell fire, attending and collecting wounded until the last cases had been evacuated. He then collapsed, completely exhausted, and was ordered out by the Regimental Medical Officer.'
