'For conspicuous gallantry in action. Under the heavy shellfire that the enemy were directing on his battery, he walked up and down behind the guns, encouraging his men and directing their fire with the greatest coolness and composure. He set a splendid example which greatly helped the excellent discipline of his men.'

'Krithia 25 May 17 Aug 1915. Brought to notice by G.O.C. 29th Indian Bde for the very excellent work carried out by him during the period 25 May to 17 August while the battery was attached to 147th Bde R.F.A. 29th Division. For the greater part of this period, Captain Farr's almost continuous services as Forward Observation Officer and during several advances which our Infantry Bde made Capt. Farr, even under heavy fire kept up splendid communication with the battery thus enabling close cooperation with out infantry.'
