Proceeded overseas to France, 5 September 1917; marched in to Base Depot, Etaples, 9 September 1917. Joined 3rd Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 17 September 1917, and posted to A Company. Wounded in action, 12 October. Now, 15 November 1917, reported wounded and missing. Court of Enquiry, 18 April 1918, concluded 'Killed in action, 12 October 1917'.
