Embarked Wellington, 30 December 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 3 March 1917, and marched in to Sling Camp.

Taken on strength, 3rd Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, Codford, 3 April 1917, and posted to 14th Company.

Proceeded overseas to France, 28 May 1917.

Wounded in action, 4 October 1917 (gun shot wound, left shoulder), and admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred to 44th Casualty Clearing Station; to 18th General Hospital, Camiers, 6 October 1917; to England, 8 October 1917, and admitted to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 26 October 1917; to Command Depot, Codford, 6 November 1917.

Found guilty, 28 November 1917, of being absent without leave from 2 pm, 22 November, until 1.30 pm, 23 November 1917: forfeited 2 days' pay and a further 2 days' pay under Royal Warrant.

Found guilty, 31 December 1917, of being absent without leave from 11 pm, 27 December, to 10 am, 29 December 1917: forfeited 3 days' pay, and a further 3 days' pay under Royal Warrant.

Proceeded overseas to France (no date recorded), and marched in to Base Depot, Etaples, 17 April 1918.
