War service: Western Front Embarked Wellington, 12 June 1917; disembarked Devonport, England, 16 August 1917, and marched in to 5th Reserve Bn, Tidworth, and reverted to Temporary Corporal. Reverted to the ranks, 24 September 1917 (failed to qualify). Appointed Temporary Corporal, 3 November 1917, having qualified at School of Musketry as 'fair'. Transferred to A Company, 10 April 1918. Promoted Corporal, 4 May 1918. Proceeded overseas to France, 5 May 1918; joined 1st Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 12 May 1918, and posted to A Company. Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 15 May 1918 (tonsillitis); discharged to duty, 29 May 1918. Killed in action, 30 August 1918. Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal |
