Admitted to 15th Stationary Hospital, 3 May 1915 (gun shot wound lower extremities); transferred to England, 6/7 May 1915, and admitted to Southern General Hospital, Edgbaston, 20 May 1915. Embarked Devonport, 23 July 1915, to rejoin Mediterranean Expeditionary Force; embarked Alexandria, 10 August 1915; rejoined unit, Gallipoli, 17 August 1915. Embarked for France, 6 April 1916. Wounded in action (second occasion), 14 July 1916 (gun shot wound, right thigh), and admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, and thence to 8th Casualty Clearing Station; to 30th General Hospital, Calais, 14 July 1916; listed as dangerously ill, 17 July 1916. Embarked for England (date not recorded); admitted to 2nd London General Hospital, 26 July 1916; transferred to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 11 September 1916; to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 19 September 1916; to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 4 January 1917. Admitted to No 3 NZ General Hospital, Codford, 5 March 1917 (mumps); attached to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 19 March 1917. Classified unfit by Medical Board, and placed on NZ Roll, 5 April 1917.
