Military Medal 'Operations: British front near Bapaume 24/25th August 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the action near Biefvillers on the morning of 24th August 1918, when his Company had suffered severe casualties, Corporal Eyles moved about under heavy shell fire and machine gun fire, putting the wounded under shelter and binding their wounds. On one occasion he rallied his men at a
critical time. On the evening of 26th August 1918 he led a fighting patrol through the enemy?s lines to St Aubin and brought back extremely important information.'
