Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 29th September 1918, in operations on Bon Avis Ridge, when his platoon Sergeant had been wounded, he
took command of his platoon and led it through to its objective. He displayed great powers of leadership and showed absolute disregard for danger. During the
attack his platoon came face to face with two enemy 77mm guns which were causing casualties. These were rushed and captured. He led his platoon forward
again. He displayed great gallantry throughout the operations.'
