Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On 5th September 1918, near Havrincourt Wood, when left in command of his Section Private Ebert showed
great coolness and good leadership under heavy fire, gaining his objective in fine style. He immediately pushed out to an enemy strong point in front with the three men left under his command and captured the post, taking twelve prisoners and a machine gun. He was wounded shortly after while locating scattered enemy posts in front of his objective.'
